Although recommendations of what to wear skiing can depend on the weather, terrain, and type of skiing, the foundational strategy is layering. Wearing several layers of clothing can help you insulate and regulate temperature, manage moisture, and protect from the elements.
The base layer is closest to the skin, such as a thermal top and bottom. Merino wool or other breathable fabrics that wick away moisture will help keep you comfortable.
Next is the midlayer, which is designed for insulation. These include technical jackets with LIFALOFT™ or PrimaLoft® insulation, fleece jackets, vests, and even sweaters. Some jackets are built with both an outer shell and a removable midlayer.
The final layer is the outer layer or shell, which includes both ski jackets and ski pants. In this layer, you want waterproof, breathable technology, like our HELLY TECHⓇ, to protect you from the elements.
In addition to your layers, you’ll also want accessories such as gloves, hats, and neck warmers for warmth and protection.
