Helly Hansen women's sailing pants: Waterproof, breathable, and windproof
Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a weekend hobbyist, our sailing jackets
and pants are created to handle tough conditions at sea. We utilize our innovative, proprietary
HELLY TECH® technology—a waterproof, breathable and windproof construction—to ensure performance without
sacrificing comfort.
Across our sailing gear, you’ll see three types of HELLY TECH® technology: Professional, Performance, and Protection. They all have a robust outer layer that keeps
you dry and shielded from strong wind and rain, while an inner membrane allows your sweat to escape while you’re working hard on deck. As a result, sea spray,
pounding waves, and bone-chilling winds are no match for our designs, and you remain comfortable even as you face the most challenging marine conditions.
How to choose the best women’s sailing pants
Choosing the perfect women's sailing pants involves considering a few key factors.
First, if you're sailing in colder waters or during the winter, you'll want sailing pants with waterproofing and, potentially, quick-dry properties. Look for pants
with HELLY TECH®, which are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions. For summer sailing or leisure cruising, lighter-weight gear such as
sailing shorts or pants with quick-dry features may be more comfortable.
A correct fit is crucial for unrestricted movement. Measure your waist, hips, and inseam accurately. You want to be able to move freely—and quickly—when it matters.
Look for pants with adjustable waistbands or drawstrings for a customizable fit.
You may prefer bib-style pants, also called salopettes, which have higher waists and shoulder straps, as they’re great for keeping water out on tough voyages.
Lower-cut pants may be what’s called for when inshore sailing or racing, when freedom of movement really matters. Neoprene pants or leggings may be preferable for
certain watersports, such as dinghy sailing.
Other elements that make a difference are added durability features, such as reinforced knees and seat, so that your pants last longer. Multiple pockets are handy
for storing small items, while reflective details can improve visibility in low-light conditions.
